Easter Weekend

Well, we had a wonderful, relaxing, and blessed Easter spending time with family back in Iowa. We headed back on the Thursday before Easter and came back that following Monday, so it was a nice little trip "home". This was the first year Gavin got to experience hunting for Easter eggs and he really seemed to enjoy it.  He would shake very egg before putting it in his basket to make sure it had something in it.....they learn so quick! We just want to thank all of our parents for making this Easter very special and fun for Gavin. So, here is a quick recap of our Easter weekend.

Now, right before we left town we received a special delivery from Grandpa & Grandma D. They got Gavin an entire bucket full of Easter bunny cookies!! He loved them!! Here he is munching away on his Easter cookies!

We spent that Thursday night before Easter with Pat and Rose and stayed up late "of course" playing cards. Gavin enjoyed sitting at the kids table playing with all the Easter eggs and bunnies.

On Friday we headed over to George and Dixie's house. It was a blast coloring Easter eggs with all the other cousins...Gavin was not so into coloring eggs, but I enjoyed it!! ;) George and Dixie even did a special little Easter egg hunt just for Gavin.

Gavin taking his first "4-wheeler" ride with his cousin Braydn....he cried when we took him off!

Before leaving Sumner we did stop in to see Courtney's grandma. This would be Gavin's great-grandma Jean! I loved this moment between the two of them. I got the privilege of meeting many of my great grandparents and I can only hope that as Gavin gets older he will be able to experience more moments like these.

After visiting Courtney's family in Sumner we headed to Waterloo to spend Easter with my mom and Steve. Gavin woke-up Easter morning to a room full of gifts from the Easter bunny. After shaking every egg to make sure there was something inside he then wanted to open every egg! He definitely was a fan of all the chocolate candy.

Family picture before church.

At church with Courtney's family

After church we had a relaxing day playing outside. My grandma and grandpa Olson also came over to join us for an Easter Dinner.

The morning we left town it was raining....and somebody wanted to splash around in the rain!

Wonderscope

Gavin and I joined my cousin Traci and her crazy bunch one afternoon to Wonderscope. It is an old school that they have turned into a learning museum for kids. Each room has a different theme and hands on activities for the kids to participate in. We had an amazing time and are SOOO looking forward to going again soon!

Gavin and Stephen playing in the "Farm Room". They had everything from how to milk a cow to growing vegetables.

Here is Gavin taking care of a little sick dog in the "Veterinarian Room". He was so determined to get the dog's temperature. LOL

Gavin and Abigail learning about x-rays

One of his favorite rooms was the "Submarine Room" which was made out of legos.

Owning Your Home = Yard Work

Since we are now home owners you could say that this is really our first spring we have had to do yard work or maintenance besides general mowing, and racking. Now, that the weather is nice we have decided to tackle some projects on our "To-Do" list. I love flowers and one of the things I have been wanting to do is get a nice pot of flowers for our front porch. I figure since I really don't have a green thumb yet, that that would be a good small first step. If I can keep them alive for awhile then maybe I can tackle a larger project. So, of course I found the cutest little gloves and shovel set at Target for only $4.48. How perfect for me the "first time" gardener!

So here is my finished project....and my cute little gloves and shovel!

Ok, so that was the simple/small project. On a larger note....Courtney decided our down spout needed to be retitled. So, while I was potting flowers he was digging a trench in our front yard! This is just the start out our project list. So I will keep you posted on the finished projects!

Now, we did mange to squeeze in a little fun on Friday night. Our friends Jon and Jen had a driveway "bonfire", so we headed over for some driveway time with hotdogs and s'mores. Gavin had a great time running around with Isaac and all the neighborhood kids.

Colorful Weekend

Two weekends ago I did the Kansas City "Run or Dye" race with my friend Rachel. We had a blast of course and we were covered in dye. It was the perfect morning for a race since it was not too hot. Afterwards we headed downtown Kansas City to enjoy the nice weather and the Farmer's Market. It was interesting walking around covered in dye.....we got a lot of crazy looks to say the least!

Our before race and after race pictures. It was not until the "after" dance party that we really got covered in dye!

Well, while I was enjoy the nice morning running and getting covered in colored dye....Gavin and daddy spent the morning enjoying the weather too by coloring with chalk all over the sidewalk!

Helping out on the Farm!

A few weekends ago we headed up to Nebraska to help my dad and Kim with some yard work on the farm. By the end of the weekend Court and my dad were beat, but Gavin sure did like watching them   work outside. He even sat in the chair by the window reading books and watching "Grandpa D" and daddy work. Of course we got Gavin all bundled up so he could go outside too and help!! LOL. We always have a great time visiting my dad and Kim on the farm and we can't wait to go back this summer when the weather is nice!
