52 Year Retirement Party! Go Gramps!

Well, my grandpa Doerr finally retired from John Deere this summer after 52 years of service! I could not be more proud to be his granddaughter. He is such an amazing man and we all look up to him in so many ways! We are excited for his new adventure as a "retiree" and are looking forward to spending more time with him. We love you Gramps!

So, in celebration the entire family headed to Moline, IL for a long weekend to spend some quality time with him. John Deere put on a special breakfast in his honor at the pavilion one morning....and Gavin was in heaven with all the tractors on display. It was so wonderful seeing all the people that came to celebrate his service.

We spent an entire day with my grandpa doing one of his favorite things.....Golfing! We played 4-team best shot and lets just say golf is not one of my strong suites. However, I had a blast playing with my dad, my brother and Courtney. At least we looked good.....kinda?! ;)

Golf Selfies!!!

Not sure about this picture....but don't we all look like we are having a blast! ;) Gota love Golf!

Of course my grandma threw a party one evening so we could celebrate with friends and family....look how cute they are! Best grandparents in the world!

The ending evening after a long, great weekend!

Now, I could starting telling you all about the car troubles we had all weekend long, but I prefer to finish on a good note! So, our final morning before leaving we had a family breakfast at my grandparents house....it was so cute how my grandma had it all "done-up" like a little outdoor garden oasis!

Some Hard Work!

This past weekend the boys were hard at it.....as Courtney helped my cousin Traci and her husband Andy pour a concrete pad in their backyard. All the kids LOVED watching the cement truck and their dads working hard.

As if pouring concrete wasn't hard enough the next day the boys headed to Lowes to tackle another project! How cute are they!!! Love my boys.

Our weekend concluded with a little neighborhood jumping party....Gavin's first time on a trampoline.

Our 4th of July

This year for the 4th of July we decided to stay home to work on some home projects, but we did host a mini 4th of July party here. My mom, Steve and brother Brian came to visit for the weekend and then our friends Jake and Rachel also joined us in celebrating the 4th. We had a great night filled with "smoked ribs" that the boys made, all kinds of 4th of July treats, bean bags, water fun, music, and of course fireworks!

Now, before everyone came over to celebrate we started our morning out by heading to the Lenexa 4th of July parade with Gavin's buddy Iassc and our friends Jon and Jennifer. Luckily, this year Gavin was not scared of the firetrucks loud sirens.

Gavin enjoyed all the parade candy....as any kid does! He had his very first sucker!

Ready to celebrate!!!

My mom and Gavin found a little frog and they put it in his watering can.....he loved carrying the frog around and showing everyone.

Cheers To: Family, Good Friends,  and America! I hope you all had a great 4th of July.

Girl's Night Out: Jen's Birthday

A few nights ago we had a girls night out to celebrate my friend Jennifer's birthday. We had a amazing dinner at Seasons 52 down on the Country Club Plaza, followed by drinks at a great outdoor wine bar! Thanks girls for an awesome night out!

Summer Fun in June

We have had a busy summer so far working on our yard, visiting family, and enjoying some festivities here in KC. So, here is the run down of what we have been up to for the last few weekends.

June 1st: Dixie and George Come Visit
We love having visitors and enjoy spending time with our parents. Courtney and I are very grateful for Dixie and George coming to visit and for all their landscaping help. We decided to add a flower bed in our backyard along with some other gardening projects and they offered to bring us flowers, compost, a dirt tiller, pots, you name it! Dixie and George are great at gardening, so we appreciated all their help!

Of course, we did manage to fit in a few fun things while they were here! We stayed up late playing cards, hit up some garage sales, went out for dinner down at the KC Power & Light District, plus Friday night they babysat so Courtney and I could have a date night!

Date Night!

June 7th: Courtney's Birthday Weekend
We decided to head up to Nebraska to visit my dad and Kim along with my grandparents to celebrate Court's birthday. It was a nice relaxing weekend full of tractor and gator rides which Gavin loved. Any time there is something to celebrate you have to have a party and of course a "theme party". So, for Court's birthday we did a "Mustache" theme party to celebrate. The highlight of the weekend was Courtney getting a "hunting bow" for his birthday from my dad and Kim. Courtney is super excited about learning how to bow hunt. So, what better teacher than my dad! We are looking forward to many fall trips up to the farm to break in his new bow!

June 14th: Father's Day Weekend
Father's Day weekend a friend that I used to work with in Arkansas came up to visit and to attend the annual Beer Festival put on by Boulevard. The festival on Saturday was wonderful. They had great music, food, and of course plenty of good beer to sample. We could not have asked for a better day.

On that Sunday (actual Father's Day) we spent the day relaxing around the house and soaking up some quality time with dad/ a.k.a Courtney. Two things that make Courtney happy are grilling and ice cream, so we did both! Gavin got to try sweet corn for the first time and seemed to really enjoy it. Then we headed over to Culver's to get some custard! We are so thankful for Courtney and all that he does for us! Gavin and I are truly blessed to call him ours!

Earlier in the week my friend Jennifer and I got together for a craft day were we helped the boys make their Father's Day gifts. Gavin and Isaac are so CUTE together I can hardly stand it!
