2014 Holiday Season

Well, I seem to have a hard time keeping this blog updated, so here is a run down on our holiday season.

Thanksgiving: We spent the holiday back in Iowa making the rounds between Courtney's parents house and my mom's house. As always we enjoyed our crazy busy time with family.

Mom and I doing a little birthday celebrating:

Our visit to the North Pole to see Santa: We took Gavin to Bass Pro again this year to see Santa. He did an awesome job.  He went right up to Santa, sat on his lap and asked for "treats"! LOL He seemed to really enjoy the candy cane Santa gave him.

Christmas: We spent Christmas this year at my Dad and Kim's up in Nebraska. It was very nice and relaxing Christmas filled with good food, lots of goodies, and of course lots of love and laughter.

All dressed up in his new "Peacoat" for church.

Some "Pinterest" Holiday appetizers I made and our cranberry and mint holiday cocktails.

Christmas Morning: Santa brought some good stuff!!!! Of course he went right for the chocolate and the treats.

Santa even came for Gunner! Lucky dog.

Playing in his new "Hunting Blind"

Enjoying some Hot Cocoa on Christmas morning.

Getting all bundled up for gator rides!!!

Enjoying some delicious sugar cookies that he helped his mother make!

Celebrating my Dad's birthday Christmas night!

The Friday night after Christmas my parents watched Gavin so we could have a night out in Lincoln. We meet up with Courtney's sister Vicki and went to a fabulous little martini bar and wine bar.

Hunting Trip to the Farm

A few weekends ago we headed up to Nebraska so Courtney could go hunting with my dad and Kim while Gavin and I kept the fort down! As always it was a great weekend filled with gator rides and tractor rides. We even got to do a little timber hiking as we were tracking a deer that Kim shoot one morning.

Playing Catch Up!!!!

Well, I just realized I still have not posted our halloween pictures!!! I can't believe it has been a month since I have last posted. Ok, so here is a recap of our halloween week!

George and Dixie came to visit the weekend before halloween and it was perfect timing for carving our pumpkins! George did an amazing job carving a witch...which he did freehand. I carved the spider. Courtney (the great husband that he is) carved the pretty pumpkin to complete my pinterest wish and Gavin....well he played with the pumpkin guts!

Later in the week we got to celebrate halloween at music class with Traci and Andy and the kids.

My dad and Kim had sent Gavin some special halloween cookies in the mail. So, to say "Thank You" I had Gavin put on his costume and we sent them a video of him opening his special halloween package.

Halloween morning was complete with a "spooky" breakfast: Ghosts, Spiders, Bats, and a Pumpkin!

Finally Trick-or-Treating!! This was Gavin's first year actually trick-or-treating and he loved it of course. After every house he would run down the driveway and say "next house please". This year we went trick-or-treating with some friends/neighbors. It was so cute watching the older girls hold Gavin's hand and help him up to the house.

The kiddos!

Powell's Pumpkin Patch and Cider Mill

This year Gavin and I went with our friends Jennifer and Isaac to a "real" pumpkin patch and cider mill just south of town. Naturally, Gavin enjoyed running all around in the pumpkin patch and mom enjoyed the cider donuts! Ok, Gavin liked them too.

Fall Festival 2014

We took Gavin to the fall festival this year when my mom came to visit. He got to do just about everything a hayride, a corn maze, pick out a pumpkin, trunk or treat, and of course eat lots of candy! That same weekend we also had a "spook" party with my mom and some friends in celebration of the premier of "Walking Dead". Gavin enjoyed helping me make all the treats; along with painting pumpkins and decorating coffins with Gigi.

I Love Fall

Fall is by far my favorite season! I love the changing of the leaves, Starbucks' pumpkin spice latte, warm apple cider, and the smell of fall. Gavin and I had fun this year setting out some fall decorations. He really enjoyed helping me make a "mummy" candle for our table.  I also made some little theme tags to hang around the house. Helps get us in the spirt!

A trip to the "Farm"

A few weekends ago we headed up to Nebraska to visit my dad and Kim. Courtney got a new bow for christmas last year and has been wanting to try it out. So, he thought it might be nice to try a little hunting that weekend. It ended up being kinda warm to sit out in the deer stand for to long (to many mosquitos), but he got in some good target practice.

We had a great relaxing weekend enjoying gator rides, tractor rides, Gunner time and of course just enjoying the beautiful view from the deck.

Gavin found a new best friend that weekend.....Grandpa D!

Here are some pictures of Gavin walking through a corn maze last year.....what a difference a year makes.
