Owning Your Home = Yard Work

Since we are now home owners you could say that this is really our first spring we have had to do yard work or maintenance besides general mowing, and racking. Now, that the weather is nice we have decided to tackle some projects on our "To-Do" list. I love flowers and one of the things I have been wanting to do is get a nice pot of flowers for our front porch. I figure since I really don't have a green thumb yet, that that would be a good small first step. If I can keep them alive for awhile then maybe I can tackle a larger project. So, of course I found the cutest little gloves and shovel set at Target for only $4.48. How perfect for me the "first time" gardener!

So here is my finished project....and my cute little gloves and shovel!

Ok, so that was the simple/small project. On a larger note....Courtney decided our down spout needed to be retitled. So, while I was potting flowers he was digging a trench in our front yard! This is just the start out our project list. So I will keep you posted on the finished projects!

Now, we did mange to squeeze in a little fun on Friday night. Our friends Jon and Jen had a driveway "bonfire", so we headed over for some driveway time with hotdogs and s'mores. Gavin had a great time running around with Isaac and all the neighborhood kids.

Colorful Weekend

Two weekends ago I did the Kansas City "Run or Dye" race with my friend Rachel. We had a blast of course and we were covered in dye. It was the perfect morning for a race since it was not too hot. Afterwards we headed downtown Kansas City to enjoy the nice weather and the Farmer's Market. It was interesting walking around covered in dye.....we got a lot of crazy looks to say the least!

Our before race and after race pictures. It was not until the "after" dance party that we really got covered in dye!

Well, while I was enjoy the nice morning running and getting covered in colored dye....Gavin and daddy spent the morning enjoying the weather too by coloring with chalk all over the sidewalk!

Helping out on the Farm!

A few weekends ago we headed up to Nebraska to help my dad and Kim with some yard work on the farm. By the end of the weekend Court and my dad were beat, but Gavin sure did like watching them   work outside. He even sat in the chair by the window reading books and watching "Grandpa D" and daddy work. Of course we got Gavin all bundled up so he could go outside too and help!! LOL. We always have a great time visiting my dad and Kim on the farm and we can't wait to go back this summer when the weather is nice!

St. Patrick's Day

Ok, I hope you all had a great St. Patricks day and remembered to wear green! Gavin sure did! We celebrated by enjoying some lucky charms and a "shamrock shake" green milk for our afternoon snack.

Snap Shots of the Past Month!

Ok, I have been horrible about updating the blog lately, mainly because Courtney is now HOME!!! He is no longer traveling during the week, so I tend to be little busier spending time with my husband in the evenings! The best part is that the job he is working on is only 5 minutes from the house.....so he even gets to come home for lunch sometimes! YAY!!! We could not be any happier right now!

Ok, so to recap the last month I'm going to give you some snap shots to fill you all in.

Two peas in a pod these days!

Gavin loves his new John Deere "Gator" that he got from Grandma and Grandpa D when they came to visit!

My super cool dude....I mean who doesn't wear sunglasses when coloring?

Father like son? Pat and Rose came to visit and of course we had to play cards until 2am!

A girls night with my besties! I'm so lucky to have such amazing friends like Nicole and Jessi!
P.S. Nicole and I both have great taste....we wore the same shirt on accident. lol

A few weekends ago we headed to Arkansas for our friends Phil and Emily's couples baby shower. They will expecting the arrival of baby Elli in the next few weeks. We had a blast that night catching up with our Arkansas friends.

Before we left town we meet uncle Curt at Denny's for breakfast.

Gavin is still rear facing in the car....but for the trip to AR we let him face forward and he LOVED it! Such a big boy now.

This was to cute to not share....all that "watching" cars wore him out!

This is our new kitchen table....Craigslist find for $160! I'm in love with it!

Last weekend we had visitors in town. My good friend Trisha from high school came to visit with her family. We had a great time showing them around KC and letting all the kids hang out. These pictures were taken at a train restaurant in KC, which the kids loved.

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! I hope you are enjoying the day with your sweetheart or sweethearts! Gavin and I started our morning off with a special "heart" filled breakfast...which he loved! Then, I thought it might be fun to do a Valentines Day photo shoot.....well Gavin on the other hand did not.  It is getting harder and harder to get him to corporate for pictures these days!

The "Oh So Fun" Valentine Photo Shoot:

I finally did get him to smile....

Tonight however, I will be celebrating Valentine's Day with my other sweetheart right here at home with some sushi, homemade raspberry cheesecake, and of course a good bottle of wine! ;)

Valentine's Day at Music Class

This morning we went to music class and it was a special class this week because we got to celebrate Valentines Day. Gavin really seems to enjoy music class and running around with all the other kids. Ms. Jen the teacher gave everyone their own valentine sack and then all the kids went around and give each other valentines. Gavin and I made special valentine treat bags filled with "puppy chow" to give all the kids. Gavin seemed to really enjoy emptying out his treat bag. It was a fun morning and we enjoyed seeing our friend Isaac too!

Here are the valentines we took to music class.... "You Totally Rock" and "I'm Wild About You"

As we were leaving class Ms. Jen gave all the kids "valentine oeros" so naturally Gavin shoved the whole cookie in his mouth!
