Gabriel John Smith: Born July 4th 2015:
On July 4th (6 days late) we welcomed our son Gabriel John Smith to our family! We are beyond blessed and in love with this sweet baby boy! He has managed to melt our hearts from day one and we thank God everyday for this gift. So here is how it all went down....
My mom and Steve were already here in KC staying with us to help watch Gavin for whenever this baby decided to arrive. That Friday night July 3rd we were hanging out on our back porch eating ice cream and shortly after headed up to bed. Then around 11:30pm I started having contractions and I knew right away this was it. They were much more intense than anything else I had been feeling/having. So, then around 12:30 I woke Courtney up and we got things ready for the hospital. We checked into the hospital around 2am and Gabe was born at 5:16am....so things went really quick. When we checked in I was dilated to 5 and 100% thinned out. They broke my water at 4:45 and I was dilated to a 10 minutes later....so then it was time to start pushing. So, that Saturday morning July 4th we had our new little "firecracker". He weighed in at 9lbs, 1oz and 20 3/4 inches long. It was a little scary at first when Gabe was born due to the fact that he had the cord wrapped around his neck when I delivered. He was not breathing on his own, so they needed to take him to the nursery to get him stable. Obviously, that was a very scary moment/time for Courtney and I as we really didn't know what would happen. To make a long story short after a few tears, and some "Our Father's" prayers everything turned out perfect! God was watching over us and had everything under control (as always) So, at 7am they brought Gabe back into the room with us where I was able to hold my sweet baby boy for the first time! Awe, the joy of motherhood!!!! He was and is perfect!
