39 weeks....any day now!!! YAY!!!

Well, we are 39 weeks and the doctor says it can be any day now. We had our appointment on Thursday and found out that I'm dilated to 1.5cm and 75% effaced. So, really that means we could go into labor any day or it could be a week yet. However, our doctor did say that our little guy has dropped a lot so we might see some action this coming week. Either way Courtney and I ARE READY....so whenever this little guy wants to show his face we will be waiting with open arms. As for momma, I'm still feeling great and going about my normal day....I made it to the farmers market this morning and got some great goodies!!! Gotta love fresh fruit and veggies!

This past week Courtney and I meet my cousin Dalton (from Atlanta) in Joplin, MO for dinner. It was great seeing him, since I think it has been about two years. I remember holding him when he was a baby....hard to believe he is in college now. He has turned into such a strapping young man!!

Ok here is our latest and possibly last belly picture @ 39 weeks....I can't believe this 9 month journey is coming to an end! I'm going to miss my belly!!! Hopefully the next time I post.....we will have BABY SMITH!!! Until next time....

37 weeks....and counting!!!

OMG....I can't believe we only have 3 weeks left (really 2 1/2) before we get to meet our little guy. Courtney and I lay in bed every night is such "amazement" that we will be bringing him home so soon. I'm not sure if I'm ready for this pregnancy to end....I have enjoyed every aspect so far of being pregnant. I feel great and I love rubbing my belly and feeling him move all around. I can't even imagine what it is going to feel like to hold him for the first time!!! All I know is that we love him more than anything already and he is not even here yet. We truly are so excited to meet him!!

At our doctor's appointment last week we did find out that I'm dilated to a one and starting to thin out. Everything else is looking good...heart beat was 140 again and I'm measuring right on track! Now it is just a waiting game. Also, over the past few weeks we have really focused on getting every thing as ready as we can before the BIG day. Which means checking things off our "To Do" checklist:

1.) install car seat- check
2.) pack hospital bags- check
3.) get insurance information ready and filled out- check
4.) prepare birth plan for hospital- check
5.) pre-pay hospital bill- check
6.) carpets cleaned- check
7.) get guest room ready- check
8.) nursery done- check

We also have some other BIG exciting news....we will officially be moving to Kansas City in the fall!!! We don't know the exact date yet, but it is looking like it will be either the end of October or November. Once we know more details we will fill you all in. So, it looks like we will have some house shopping to do here in the next few months.

 I wanted to share one of baby Smith's new hats!!! I think it is SUPER CUTE and I can't wait to use it for newborn pictures!!!

35 Weeks.....Baby Showers

We are now only about a month away....I can't believe it!!! Baby Smith will be here before we know it! I'm still feeling great and I seem to have plenty of energy. Within the last week I have started to swell a little bit in my ankles, but I'm sure that has to do with my busy schedule and 100 degree weather! Sleep as also become a little more difficult since I toss and turn a lot. Not to mention that I get up about every 2-3 hours to use the bathroom. LOL!! Overall though things are still going great and we are SUPER excited to meet this little guy!

Over the past three weeks we had some baby showers and we are very thankful to all of our family and friends for attending the showers and for such wonderful gifts!!! I think we have just about everything now :) At our couples baby shower we had all the guys (plus Lacey) drink beer out of a bottle and the loser had to change Addalyn's diaper. So, lets just say they all bit holes in the bottles to try to finish faster. Drinking 8oz. of beer from a bottle can be difficult!! LOL

We also headed back to Iowa to celebrate my grandparents 60th anniversary along with two baby showers. The weekend was AWESOME!!! The weather was great, and both showers turned out amazing. Thank you very much to my aunt Cathy and Coni for all their hard work, as well as my mother-in-law Rose for hosting such beautiful showers for me.

Within the past week Courtney and I have got a LOT DONE!! Since we came back from Iowa it really hit us that he is going to be here in a month, and could possibly come sooner....so we want to be ready!   Court and I have finally finished all of the nursery and have put together just about everything now. The only thing missing is the nursing/rocking chair for his room. Which, Courtney should be picking up tonight! We got his crib bedding all put together, which I had his crib bedding customer ordered and I LOVE IT!!! Then my mom got us our snug-a-bunny bouncer and rock-n-play sleeper which are SUPER CUTE and are all set-up and ready to go! Thanks mom!!! We also put together another great gift we got, our monitor system from my dad and Kim. This monitor has a sensor pad that goes under the mattress and will sound an alarm if the baby goes more than 15 seconds without breathing. It is supposed to help prevent SIDs....so we are very excited to have this and hopefully it will help us sleep better at night! Thanks dad and Kim!!

We also decided to make a section in our room for middle of the night feedings. I have a rocking chair from when I lived in Des Moines, so we thought that would be prefect for our room. Since the other chair will be in his room. Also, Courtney's mom is letting us borrow the bassinet from when Courtney was a baby.....which I think is awesome!! The bassinet sheet and quilted blanket are also from when Courtney was a baby. It doesn't get much sweeter than that!!

32 Weeks Pregnant

Ok, everyone we are getting close!!! Only 8 more weeks to go before we get to meet this little guy!!! Courtney and I are getting REALLY excited and can't believe how fast the time has gone. Ok, I'm going to try to catch you all up on the past few weeks. Well for starters Courtney and I started our birthing class last week. We go every Tuesday night from 6-9pm for the month of June. Hopefully, we will be experts after this class... lol. We also had our breastfeeding class last week, so I guess you could say we think we are ready! I'm really looking forward to breastfeeding, I think it is such a healthy option for our baby. Plus, I'm extremely excited about bonding with our little guy and just the overall experience. Everything as been going very well with the pregnancy....I still feel great! I really really enjoy being pregnant!!! At our 32 week appointment our little guy's heartbeat was in the upper 150's, and I'm measuring right on track. So, everything is looking good.

We have had a few other exciting things happen over the past few weeks. One is I got to meet Brett Michaels from Poison. He not only autographed my wrist (I had nothing for him to sign...lol) he told me I was beautiful and that he hoped to see me at his next concert!!! LOL, ok what I can say....I think Court better watch out! ;) So, here is a picture of me getting my autograph.

On June 7th it was Court's 33rd birthday!! Wow, I can't hardly believe it...I meet him when he was 24. So, we have known each other now for 9 yrs and I LOVE him more and more everyday!! He is such an amazing husband and I know he is going to be an even more amazing father! One of the things I did to celebrate his birthday was I made him a homemade raspberry cheesecake....OMG it was SO GOOD!!! I think we had it all gone in two days. We also celebrated by going out with some friends for dinner and drinks (water for me) :)

I also had a few maternity pictures taken by a friend. I don't have all the pictures back yet, but I thought I would share just a few. 

Finally, here is our latest 32 week belly picture....it is getting bigger!!! I love it! Well, I think that about sums up the past few weeks....until next time

29 Weeks....3rd Trimester!!!

Wow, I can't believe we are in our 3rd trimester already!! Only 11 weeks to go!!! I know it has been awhile since I blogged last, so I will do my best to fill you in on how everything has been going the past few weeks. I'm still feeling great! So far I have not had any real bad pregnancy symptoms; no swollen feet, no back pain, and I still have lots of energy...so I'm considering myself lucky!! The past few weeks have truly been amazing, I feel our little guy moving more and more everyday and I LOVE IT!!! Just this past week Courtney and I have been able to see and feel where he "actually" is in my belly! I have started to notice my stomach becoming lop sided some time to time. It truly is a miracle to think that I have this little baby growing inside me. I just can't wait to hold him and kiss him....11 weeks can't come fast enough!!! Courtney and I already love him so much that words can't even describe.

Last week we had our 28 week appointment and everything is still looking great! His heartbeat was 139 and I'm measuring right on track!!! I was a little worried though because I did gain 4lbs from my 24 week appointment to this last appointment....which is the most I have gained in a four week period so far.  Not to worry though my doctor said this is totally normal and I'm doing great on my weight. I'm trying to make an effort to get my fruits and veggies in each day.

Lets see what else has been happening...well Courtney has been a busy bee redoing an old dresser we had for the baby's room. He has got the dresser all sanded down and will start the new stain this weekend. I'm hoping to use this dresser has our changing table, so I'm excited for him to finish it so we can get it in the room! We have started to put some things on the walls in the baby's room....it is coming together slowly. I really wish we could paint the room, but since we don't know how long we will be in this house I don't want to waste the time or money painting when we might be moving shortly after the baby is born. You might be asking where are we moving to??? Yeah, well when we know the answer to that the question we will let you know! LOL Anyways here are a few pics of the baby's room along with a new belly pic.

Ok, so the other day I found this coach diaper bag at a sidewalk sale. It was already marked down THEN another 60% off...plus the inside was BLUE!!! It was meant to be!!!

25 Weeks

I can't believe we are already at 25 weeks....it seems like the pregnancy is just flying by. I know this summer is going to go even faster since I will be busy with weddings all summer. Here is our latest belly picture at 25 weeks. I definitely have a "bump" and I must say that I really enjoy being pregnant. So far I have nothing to complain about....I feel great!!

This past weekend Courtney and I had our "first" garage sale....I can't believe how much stuff we had!!! Anyways, we thought it was perfect time to clean out the old stuff and make room for new baby stuff! We have been very blessed with so many gifts already from family and friends...."his" room is already starting to fill up! Of course uncle Curtis had to get him a Hawkeye outfit....we already know he will be a HUGE Hawk fan....is there any other option??? I think NOT!!! :)

As I was cleaning out drawers for the garage sale last week I did come across some pictures that I could not help but laugh at. I found some pictures of Courtney as a little one....he was so DARN CUTE!!! I hope our little man looks just like him....I thought it would be fun to share the pictures. Don't tell Courtney I put them on here!! SSSHHHHH ;)

23 Weeks.....IT'S A BOY

Wow.....Courtney and I could not be more excited!!! This past weekend was the big "Reveal Party" where Courtney and I found out we are having a little baby boy! The party was wonderful and we hope everyone enjoyed it! Ok, so to fill everyone else in....my mom hosted a gender revealing party for us and we had a cake made with the inside either pink or blue. So, no one knew what baby Smith was (not even Courtney or I) until the night of the party when we cut into the cake to reveal the sex. We decided to make everyone vote prior to cutting the cake to see what the majority of our family thought. We had 19 people that thought it was a boy and 12 people that thought it was a girl. It was such a great night and we enjoyed celebrating the news with our family. We are so grateful to have such wonderful parents and we know they are going to be wonderful grandparents. I just want to say THANK YOU so much to my mom for putting on the party....she did a wonderful job and we could not of asked for anything more. Courtney and I also were able to stop in Des Moines on the way back to Iowa to visit our friends Megan and Scott. They just had their first baby boy last November....so I could not wait to meet and hold Briggs for the first time! Megan he is such a cutie.....I think he is a keeper ;)

Everything else has been going great! I feel great and now I'm super excited to start decorating the nursery! I also have posted another belly pic....it is really starting to grow now. We have our 24 week doctors appointment on Thursday, so I'm anxious to see how much I have gained. I think that is it for now....until next time!
